A sunshine-soaked fusion of past and future, All Day Cool is the new collaborative EP from Melbourne-based producer Sai Galaxy and Afro Disco queen Oby Onyioha. Out August 8 on Soundway Records, the four-track release also features rare new recordings with Afro Funk luminaries Steve Black and Rob — bridging generations of West African musical icons with a new wave of global dancefloor energy.
The EP’s title track, “All Day Cool,” is led by Oby Onyioha, whose 1980 classic Enjoy Your Life became an enduring anthem in Nigeria and a cult favourite for DJs around the world. Recently reintroduced to younger audiences through Tokimonsta’s remix and Soundway’s reissue campaign, Oby’s career has seen a revival decades after stepping away from the spotlight — culminating in her first live tour since the 1980s, alongside Sai Galaxy this summer.
With nods to feel-good funk and laid-back disco, All Day Cool plays like a late afternoon set in the sun: warm, rhythmically rich, and full of infectious groove. Tracks like “Freedom” (feat. Steve Black) and “Don’t Get Back No More” (feat. Rob) channel the playful sophistication of vintage west African nightlife, reimagined through Sai Galaxy’s crisp, modern production. It's music made for open air stages and sweaty club floors alike — celebratory, effortless, and cool to the core.
The EP is the latest in a growing line of Soundway projects that connect the dots between the golden era of West African pop and today’s global underground, and a reminder of the creative potential sparked when legacy artists are given new platforms to shine.
