Out now on Soundway Records, Totally Right is the debut album from Naarm/Melbourne duo Wrong Way Up – a new project from vocalist/songwriter Emmanuela Degery and producer/multi-instrumentalist Andrew "Diamond" Phillips.
Formed in 2022 after their time in the band Broadway Sounds, the duo draw inspiration from Afro-disco, 70s synth-funk, and the electronic experiments of artists like William Onyeabor, Francis Bebey, and the Lijadu Sisters.
Across eleven tracks, Totally Right blends vintage drum machines, warm synthesizers, and Degery’s powerful, gospel-influenced vocals into a distinctive sound that celebrates dancefloor energy and playful storytelling.
With lyrics that shift between humour and social commentary, the album reflects on everything from online shopping culture to friendship and community, all while keeping the grooves front and centre.
