Named “The Queen of Nu Cumbia”, La Yegros currently resides in two distinct places -- vibrant romantic Paris, and the pulsing heart of cosmopolitan Buenos Aires -- but her family hails from the tropical climates found in the rural rain forests of the northeast Argentina, bordering Brazil. Her musical point of view is spirited and eclectic. Produced by the legendary Argentine producer King Coya (composer of Fuerza Bruta), there’s a sass to her singing, at once fresh and urgent yet aged in experience and attitude, that cuts through the male-dominated contemporary cumbia, drawing on both deep folk traditions and cutting edge beats.
Magnetismo is the attraction between two different poles, and in the case of La Yegros’ second album, those two poles are the audience and the artist. La Yegros’ highly anticipated second album was born out of international collaborations and experiences through the 15 tours across the globe that the band has completed in the past two and a half years. The new songs came out of life on the road, from Hungary to Morocco to Washington DC, and were perfected and inspired by the live reactions interacting with new audiences.
